Pamela Gracey of CoulourDeCanvas Helps You Discover the Color and Style of your Wedding

A bridal color palette sets the tone for your wedding. Here are tips on incorporating your wedding palette colors throughout your bridal party:

Planning a wedding can be an exciting experience, and it is equally important to start off on the right foot and ensure that you take the proper steps to make your dream day a reality. Often we start by selecting the venue, deciding on the colors for our wedding palette, and choosing a DJ or live music, food, photographer, etc.

Typically, a wedding color palette is the basis for setting the tone of your wedding party attire, flowers, favors, decor, accessories, etc. Using colors consistently helps to bring your wedding into focus and creates unity, continuity, and character throughout the wedding party. Once you've chosen your wedding dress and color palette, it's time to move on to the bridal party.

You want to create a sense of continuity throughout your bridal party. The first step is the bridesmaids’ attire. While choosing bridesmaids' dresses, you look at the color, style, design, and budget. Will all the bridesmaids wear the same dress or the same colors, but styles that fit their style and characteristics more appropriately? Then, accessorize the bridesmaids by incorporating your color palette using flowers, hair accessories, and jewelry. Let's touch on bridesmaid jewelry. In the past, folks chose single-tone jewelry, often given as a gift to the wedding party. What if you could customize unique one-of-a-kind earrings, necklaces, and hair pieces for your bridesmaids that incorporate your wedding palette for about the same price? Pamela Gracey, ColourDeCanvas, offers custom hand-painted bridesmaid accessory packages that combine the bridal color palette throughout the designs.

Next, we look at the groomsmen. While choosing the groomsmen tuxedos, it is essential to consider color palette, style, jacket length, design, and budget. Will the tux match the dresses, or will you pull in the color palette using the tie, handkerchief, and cummerbund? Then, we look at other areas to create and customize the look. Pamela Gracey, ColourDeCanvas offers custom, unique one-of-a-kind hand-painted cufflinks incorporating your color palette for your groomsmen.

What is involved in customizing your bridal party accessories? The first step is scheduling an initial meeting with Pamela via Zoom or in-person to discuss your vision for your special day. Pamela will discuss the color palette and your bridal party, including how many people your bridal party will have. If your bridesmaid and groomsmen attire is final, you will need photos. At the initial meeting, we will discuss your wedding plan, location, color palette, budget, and how we will incorporate your desired colors to bring balance to your bridal party.

Please ensure that the colors, styles, necklines, and lengths are clear for the bridesmaid photographs. Have a photo of each of the bridesmaids in their dress. If you do not have a picture of each bridesmaid, you will need to know if they have short, medium, or long hair to determine if you will incorporate hair pieces into your design. For the jewelry, looking at the neckline, you can decide whether you want a short choker length, a mid-length falling just above the neckline, or a long pendant that will fall just below the neckline.

The next step is to finalize your color palette – Pamela incorporates the colors in your wedding palette, a metallic tone, and black and white paint to create one-of-a-kind designs. Next is the actual jewelry design — you can choose the shape of the glass cabochon – Heart, Oval, Round, Square, or Teardrop. Then, we discuss if you want silver or gold tones and your preference of metals for the necklace, bails, and fixings. For the earring style, do you want a simple drop earring with hand-painted cabochon, or do you want to add other beads or designs to make a more intricate earring? Lastly, we discuss the necklace design. Again, it can be a simple pendant drop on a silver or gold-tone necklace. Alternatively, we can create a more intricate necklace design incorporating additional beads, multiple cabochons, etc.

For the hair pieces, we discuss the color palette, flowers, and designs that will accent your bridesmaids. You can choose between simple barrette styles with cabochons, hair combs with flowers and accents, or a clip with cabochons, flowers, and accents. Once we finalize your vision for your design, Pamela will create your designs, and you will be able to view and approve them before delivery.

All of these steps, when combined, will create a cohesive, thoughtful and unique feel throughout your special day. These one-of-a-kind touches are what truly reflect the look of your event and make it feel special and as singular as your love.

For the groomsman photograph, please ensure the photo includes the whole attire, the suit or tux, shirt colors, tie colors, handkerchief, cummerbund, etc. Pamela will incorporate the color tones from the bridesmaid jewelry for the cufflinks to ensure your color palette flows throughout the bridal party. You will choose between a square or round cufflink in a silver or gold-tone bezel.

Adding custom accessories will help to bring your bridal party into balance, and often they become a fantastic gift for those in your party. Each piece of jewelry is hand-painted, creating a one-of-a-kind design that incorporates your color palette into each piece of jewelry.
